Maternity Leave: Don't American Moms Deserve Better?

I am big into infographics these days! I love how they can make powerful point visual, clear and motivating. Like this one (below).

The state of maternity leave in this country is deplorable. We are leaving our new moms and babies behind, and as a society we pay for it it numerous ways. We know that babies have better health, educational, and behavioral outcomes with paid maternity leaves for their moms. Check out the infographic below for more information on this.

Other countries know this-- 178, in fact, that provide guaranteed paid leave. The United States provides no paid maternity leave. The Federal Medical Family Leave act provides only unpaid leave in the U.S., and leaves out 50% of all women.

This has to change. Together, we have to fight for the rights of women and babies, because so many want to undo the progress we have made so far. And boy, do we more to do to promote the health and welfare of our most vulnerable.
