I was very interested when I saw an email outlining these tips for Swine Flu prevention. I'm looking for tips to prevent an outbreak of Swine Flu at my school (and home!). Here are some great ideas for how to lessen your child's chances of contracting the virus. (I myself need to work on number 3, 5 and 8!)
Medical Director of Cinergy Health, Dr. Erika Schwartz, has provided valuable tips below on swine flu prevention and has additional information on swine flu prevention, specifically for teachers and back-to-school concerns.
Swine Flu Prevention Tips:
1. Wash your hands as often as you can and certainly before you eat.
2. Do not touch your face and mouth with your hands.
3. Get 8 hours of sleep every night.
4. Eat three meals a day that balance complex carbohydrates, protein and are chock full of fruit and vegetables. Stay away from prepared and preserved foods.
5. Drink 6 glasses of water and 2 cups of green tea a day.
6. Exercise 6 days a week to feel better, not to exhaustion.
7. Stay away from sick people and don’t go to work if you are sick. If we care for each other we won’t be spreading the flu.
8. Address stressors in your life and limit their impact.
Thanks for these valuable tips, Dr. Schwartz! What about you? Which tips will you work on? Or maybe you do all of these things already-- and if so, how?

Good luck staying away from sick people. Swine flu is often indistinguishable from a cold and other viruses. so you would have to stay home all winter to avoid this illness. Someone can have a mild case of Swine Flu and not know it, thinking it is the common cold. Wash, wash those hands and keep your immune system strong and hopefuuly if you catch this illness it will be mild.
I have to admit that I have been letting this swine flu thing get to me a bit.I keep hearing snippets here and there about it so it does have a tendency to make you a bit paranoid! Great tips - I'll pass them along to friends and family.
Great tips for Swine Flu protection. Another is to use hand sanitizer when you can't use soap and water. HandClens is a great brand I have tried, it's alcohol free so it's less drying!
Courtney, that's a great tip about the hand sanitizer. I'd recommend RBT 24/7. It too is alcohol free, and the other products on offer are bleach free also! They use natural biocides to create 30 day protection against harmful bacteria. Have a look at the website:
