I'm not really a product person. I'm not all that into shopping, and I don't spend hours discussing the benefits of one shampoo, dish soap, or other products other than their environmental and toxic load (or hopefully, their lack there of).
But I do love mama owned companies, small green businesses, and any business that makes safe and green products for babies and children.
And oh, did my oldest daughter yell, scream and fuss when we brushed her hair. For. Years. Very loudly. She is 4, and it hasn't been pretty for a long, long time. That's why you would see her with unbrushed, matted hair, sometimes for days, because at times we just weren't up for the fight (like the first year of our youngest daughter's life!).
I love the California Baby brand, I really do. But their detangler did nothing for my girl's thick and easily knotted hair. I was sent a sample recently of Original Sprout's Miracle Detangler, and I can assure you, it is aptly named.
When I first coated my girl's hair with this after a bath I prepared for the usual fight: squirming, yelling, and crying. The brush went RIGHT THROUGH her hair, no problem. She didn't cry. In a few calm minutes (for both of us), her hair was brushed, and it smelled great (not overwhelming).
I was literally astounded.
My husband tried it a few days later and was equally thrilled. He said, "Now we can grow their hair long!" because on many occasions, I had considered chopping it all off.

why is stuff like this always prohibitively expensive?
Checked against the cosmetics database. They don't have any info on peg-5. I thought anything that starts w/ PEG is bad for you.

Smurfett- I thought this product might be too new for an EWG rating. I am happy that it is EU and Japan compliant, as they have much higher chemical regulations then we do.

I am also looking for non-toxic detangler for my toddler. I have looked at the ingredients listed on this detangler and checked them against the SKIN DEEP cosmetic database and what I found was that some of the ingredients listed are flagged as toxic. I thought I had finally found something safe to use on my toddler. So disappointed! :(
That is strange! I searched for Original Sprout and didn't find them on the database. I'm surprised because they actively promote the non-toxic qualities of this product. Can you attach the link of what you found?
