Parents.com just launched a new toy and product recall page that is tremendously helpful for concerned parents to keep up with recalls. How many times have you been driving, half listening to the news and catching part of a report about a new recall? I know I have.
So you can head over to Parent's Toy and Product Finder and type in the brand, product name, or model number, the category, and how recent the recall is. If you just want to look at a list of the most current recalls, it is there as well. This is a usable, convenient way to check out toy and product safety. They have pictures of each recalled item, the danger, a description, where it was sold, what to do about it, and where to go for more information. According to the website, the page was created with information from "the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and other sources. Our database is not comprehensive. For more complete information concerning recalls, visit www.cpsc.gov or, for car seats, www.safercar.gov."
Keeping up with recalls is challenging. I receive emails from the CPSC almost daily with new recalls and it is overwhelming. To simplify, you could visit Parents.com's tool, then head to the CPSC site for more information if you need it.
Thanks, Parents.com!
