Celebrate a Green Halloween-

I will be out of town for Halloween (which I will write about in another post), so I wanted to do some special crafts and food with my girls this weekend.

What I didn't want to do was buy any plastic spiders, other made in China Halloween trinkets, or the like.

But I didn't want to spend hours crafting and creating, either. Because let's face it, I have a one and a three year old. They eat and craft quickly with an attention span of only a few minutes.

So- I created these paper plate decorations with them. I can recycle the whole thing at the end, and there was no plastic involved. I do wish the plates were made of recycled content, but I just couldn't find those at the moment.

Then I even made (this is big for me) pumpkin cookies from scratch. I didn't use the best organic ingredients for all of it, but I tried, and since I am not much of a baker, I am just glad they are pretty and edible!

And of course tomorrow we will carve our pumpkin and roast the seeds and eat. No waste there!

Our costumes are completely reused, simply pulled from the dress up bin and snazzed up at bit with some thoughtful coordination. My daughters change their minds daily about what they will be, so who knows!

So glad to see you're celebrating a green Halloween. I love the simplicity of your ideas. That's what green is all about.

we are using hand-me-down costumes for the whole family. We are going to a neighborhood party, so I'm pulling from my closet to be Punky Brewster - 'member her?
